Hullo, and welcome to my little corner for my hobby-ish graphic design, such as wallpapers, banners, icons, as well as some of my other artwork. Most of the graphics you find here are inspired by favorite artists and fandoms; you can also visit my formal graphic design portfolio Margaret Watkins Design, my formal non-graphic design portfolio Margaret Watkins Art, my not so formal Pearl Graphics and my collection of artistic inspiration & nifty finds Quaint and Curious.

How Could I Have Known Where the Road Would Lead...

View these full size.

This quote, from the BBC Radio production of LotR, really struck me: there's so many sweet little quotes about the delight of starting to write a new book, yet in this case, Frodo's words don't exactly evoke such delight, for they speak of the painful memories that he had to encounter while writing the account of his long and terrible journey.

Moments of Grace and Spritual Warfare in "The Lord of the Rings" by Anne Marie Gazzolo

My dear friend Anne Marie Gazzolo has finally published her book Moments of Grace and Spiritual Warfare in "The Lord of the Rings" I can't wait to read it. I'm so very excited for her, and it's quite thrilling to see my cover layout design in print. Yay! Tolkien fans, show your love and order your copy HERE at WestBow Press and be sure to order extras as Christmas presents for the other Tolkien fans in your life!

Liebster Tag

Got a nice tag from Celtic Traveler.
So I'm going to kinda skirt around the rules... mermm... *sheepish*
1. You must post eleven facts about yourself.
2. You must also answer the eleven questions the awarder has given you and make up eleven questions for your awardees to answer in turn.
3. Tag eleven fellow bloggers. Here Faerie Artisan says no, she is too lazy. But she still wants anyone of you who wants to accept the tag and do it!
4. Notify them that you've awarded them. Consider yourself notified.
5. No tagging back.
6. And the eleven blogs you tag must have fewer than 200 followers.

Okay, some lovely facts to go.
1. I had never heard of the Arts & Crafts Movement (1860-1910) until recently in my graphic design history class. You hear of arts and crafts, but I never knew the term actually came from this. And nowadays, ironically, a good percentage of arts and crafts are cheesy, contrary to what the movement stood for.
2. I'm ridiculously excited for The Hobbit film. *bounces*
3. I've never eaten sushi.
4. Fishing and golf are two subjects that bore me to tears.
5. Black and white printed books on art are a great pet peeve of mine.
6. I do inventories in stores and I hate counting folded mens' shirts, hanging socks, and men's folded pants.
7. My taste in fashion is a bit like Penelope's.
8. If I see a spider, I don't kill it. Because in Poland, spiders in the house are considered lucky! Stompers and smashers are wimps.
9. I am trying to put together a decent Steampunk outfit. I need some proper welding goggles and a waistcoat of some sort.
10. I secretly love it when we lose electricity. Yay candlelight reading!
11. I am currently trying to find the current issue of Empire magazine (with Bilbo on the cover) so if you know of where I can find it, let me know, please.

Questions.
1. If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?
Either New Zealand to see the beautiful sites (particularly Hobbiton) or Ireland, to also tour beautiful sites.
2. Are you a part of any geekdoms (ex. LOTR, Doctor Who, Harry Potter, Marvel, etc.)?
LOTR, and The Hobbit. Also Sherlock.
3. Which literary/movie character reminds you most of yourself?
Penelope, Frodo, Lizzy, George Bailey, oh, and Meg Ryan's character from You've Got Mail.
4. Most unpredictable book/movie you've ever read/watched?
Off the top of my head, I'm saying the film Witness for the Prosecution. The film Fantastic Mr. Fox too, for me at least.
5. Favorite music genre(s)?
Folk, Celtic, Irish, Classical, Adam Young. (Come on, he is a genre all his own.)
6. What do you fear?
Loosing my teeth.
7. Name an exotic pet you'd like to have if it was legal (anything from tigers to foxes to unicorns).
A fruit bat, or a bushbaby, or an otter.
8. Any books or movies you'd like to live in?
Either Hobbiton in Tolkien's world, or Redwall Abbey in Jacques'.
9. Last song you listened to?
"Highland" - Blackmore's Night
10. Newest obsession?
Pumpkin doughnuts.
11. Pick a superpower!
Invisibility!
My questions for whomever picks this up:
1. Do you own any vinyl records?
2. What was your favorite childhood toy, and do you still own it?
3. Is there a single object that you enjoy collecting?
4. What do you enjoy doing in your dreams (while sleeping of course)?
5. Do you keep a (physical) journal or diary?
6. What is your favorite old film (before 1950)?
7. What is your current feel-good song to listen to?
8. What is the last thing that surprised you?
9. Would you go to the moon?
10. If you could invent a new type of muffin, what flavor would it be?
11. Can you say the alphabet backwards in less than 15 seconds?

There you go. If you want, take the tag and let me know!
